Counselling in Ealing, West London

"The only person who is educated is the one who has learned how to learn and change" (Carl Rogers)

My name is Linda Burke. I am a BACP (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists) Registered Person Centred Counsellor and also have a Certificate in Advanced Cognitive Behavioural Skills. I trained and qualified at the Metanoia Institute in Ealing and have been offering individual counselling to a wide range of clients since 1998.

Why counselling? Why now?

Many people reach times in their lives when they feel unfulfilled, stuck, at a crossroads or confused.

You may find yourself in unfulfilling relationships, have problems managing your stress, anxiety or anger levels or simply need to take a step back and evaluate your life so you can decide where to go next.

I believe strongly in the importance of having a confidential and safe space where you can identify, explore and resolve that which is important to you. I will enable you to develop confidence which will help you make decisions and maybe even changes which you perhaps know you need to make but do not know how to. Maybe you realise certain changes need to take place but are not ready to make them yet and wonder how you can manage yourself in the meantime.

Talking with friends and family is often helpful. However, sometimes this is not enough. Counselling offers you non-judgemental space where you can build trust and talk freely about whatever is important to you.

Sessions move at your pace, are led by whatever you want to talk about, with the aim that you arrive at a place where you are content. My training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) will help me identify thinking mistakes, unhealthy beliefs and behaviour patterns which may be causing you to experience repeated unhappiness and uncomfortable feelings. Together we can explore the unhelpful thinking patterns, their source and use techniques for challenging them which can lead to change if you so wish.

I have an evening practice in Ealing, West London, easily accessible from Hanwell, Acton, Chiswick, Shepherds Bush, Southall, Brentford, Greenford, Northolt, Isleworth and Richmond.

Over many years of working as a counsellor I have gained wide experience in offering confidential support to clients with issues such as depression, anxiety, bereavement, drug & alcohol misuse/dependency, stress, HIV & related issues, relationship difficulties, life changes and personal development, and low self esteem. I also have experience of working with carers of people with substance misuse issues.
